Swim Camp Objective

The LAI College Swim Camp is designed to help swimmers enhance their skills and meet the standards of elite competition. Participants will train like top student-athletes engaging in intensive in-pool and land training, strength and conditioning, recovery sessions, classroom learning, and nutrition—all while staying in our accommodations. This holistic program equips them to grow not only as athletes but also as Christ-like leaders in sports and life.

Coach Sherwyn Santiago

From elite swimmer to top-tier coach, Sherwyn “Weng” Santiago has been a driving force in Philippine swimming. As the Philippine National Swimming Coach from 2019 to 2022, he played a key role in guiding athletes to the Tokyo Olympics and continues to develop world-class talent. He has coached and supported Olympians like Kayla Sanchez, Jarod Hatch, among many others. With his expertise and dedication, Coach Weng continues to shape the future of Philippine swimming, producing athletes who compete at the highest level.

Roxanne Ashley Yu

Roxanne “Roxy” Yu has made waves in Philippine swimming with her exceptional backstroke performances. She represented the country at the 2014 Summer Youth Olympics in Nanjing, China, competing in the 100m and 200m backstroke. In the 2015 SEA Games, she clinched three bronze medals and helped set a national record in the 4x100m medley relay. A former NCAA D1 swimmer for the University of Miami, Roxy continues to inspire as a standout athlete on the international stage.

  • Respect – Show respect towards coaches, staff, teammates, and camp facilities. Any form of bullying, harassment, or inappropriate behavior is not tolerated.
  • Coachability – Be open to feedback and willing to learn and improve.
  • Positive Attitude – Stay motivated, encourage others, and show up to practice ready!
  • Accountability – Take responsibility for your actions, behavior, and belongings.
  • Rest & Recovery – Follow curfew, get enough sleep, and take care of your body.

Swim Gear

  • Swimsuits (at least 2-3 for rotation)

  • Comfortable training clothes (for dryland workouts)–  no laundry in the dorms, bring enough clothes!

  • Light jacket or hoodie (in case it gets cold)
  • Pajamas/sleepwear
  • Extra underwear & socks
  • Extra change of clothes for Sunday service

  • Plastic or waterproof bag (for wet clothes)
  • Notebook & pen (for taking notes from coaches and for the orientation)
  • Snacks (healthy ones like nuts, protein bars, or fruits)
  • Phone & charger (if allowed, for emergency use)
  • Cash (small amount for personal needs)

Accommodation

Room assignments will be given on the first day of camp

  • No outside visitors or unauthorized personnel are allowed in the training and accommodation areas without prior approval.
  • No room hopping allowed– no boys in the girls room and vice versa. There is a common area where campers can hangout. Once violated, swimmer/s will need to pack their bags and head home.
    • Common area: a space to hangout with board games and pantry area, found on the same floor as the dorms
  • No outside visitors unless approved by camp staff.
  • Respect roommates’ belongings and privacy.
  • Report any damage immediately. Participants will be held responsible for damages caused by negligence.

Meals & Nutrition

Nutritious meals and snacks will be provided daily to keep campers energized and healthy throughout the program. We have carefully taken note of reported allergies and dietary restrictions.

Your child’s health and well-being are important to us—we’re committed to providing balanced meals that support their performance and enjoyment at camp.

  • Attend all scheduled meals—no skipping.
  • Clean up after yourself in the dining area.
  • Food and drinks are not allowed in dorm rooms, except for water. You can bring your own snacks placed in the common pantry area.
  • There is a fridge and microwave available in the common area for snacks

Approach to Discipline

At LAIC Swim Camp, we promote respect, safety, and teamwork in a positive environment.

  • Minor issues include tardiness, not following instructions, or disruptive behavior. These will be addressed with reminders and guidance.
  • Repeated or serious violations such as disrespect, unsafe actions, or rule-breaking may lead to:
    • First offense: Verbal warning and parent notification.
    • Second offense Temporary suspension from activities.
    • Third Offense: Dismissal from camp if necessary, with no refund of fees
 Our goal is to encourage responsibility and self-discipline while ensuring a fun and supportive experience for all.

Your child’s safety is our top priority.
A licensed medic is on-site 24/7, fully equipped to handle first aid and emergency situations. All swim sessions are supervised by certified coaches and lifeguards trained in CPR and water safety.
No swimming outside designated practice times.
Injuries or medical concerns must be reported immediately to a coach or staff member.
Parents should inform us of any medical conditions or special needs before camp begins for optimal care.


Grocery runs and off campus activity

  • Campers are not allowed off campus unless approved by coach Weng
  • 13 and below need to be accompanied by a coach for grocery runs

📄 MEDICAL CERTIFICATE REQUIREMENT

For the safety of all participants, a valid medical certificate is required before joining the camp. This ensures that each camper is physically fit for swimming and other physical activities.
Campers without a submitted medical certificate will not be allowed to join the program.

Parental & Guardian Responsibilities

  • Parents/guardians must submit a signed waiver and emergency contact form before camp participation.
  • Drop-off and pick-up must be on time.
  • If a participant needs to leave camp early, parents must communicate with Coach Weng.
